Advocacy for Children Day 2026

All In For Our Kids! Join us at Advocacy for Children Day at the Capitol!

For over 20 years, hundreds of young children, parents, early childhood professionals and advocates from across the state have come together to ask legislators to prioritize Minnesota’s youngest children.

In the past year, our early childhood educators and families have made it through so much adversity. This year, we're excited to return to the Capitol with you to celebrate the resilience of our early childhood sector and urge policymakers to go "All In For Our Kids"!

Please note: Although we’ve welcomed families in the past, due to the current climate and our focus on safety, we are not directly inviting children this year. We encourage adults, educators, parents, partners, and advocates to join us and lift their voices on behalf of Minnesota’s youngest learners.

Date: Wednesday, March 25th, 2026

Time: 9:00 – 9:30 AM | Welcome in the Rotunda | Rally
           9:30 – 11:00 AM | Advocacy Activities in Vault

Location: Minnesota State Capitol Building, 75 Rev Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, St Paul, MN 55155

Over 35,000 children in the state of Minnesota don’t have access to affordable quality early care, education, and other supports. This day is an opportunity to speak up, for and with our children, to make sure their care and education are prioritized in policy discussions and legislation this session.

Your voice matters, and legislators want to hear from you!

Let’s create a buzz! Use #GreatStartMN #AllInForOurKids and #ACD2026 to share why early childhood is important through photos, quotes or artwork!

Recommendations for Attendance

We recommend arriving extra early due to the changes in security at the Capitol around 8:40 AM before the event begins at 9:00 AM to make sure you can properly situate yourself at the event. To enter the Capitol, go through the south entrance underneath the Capitol steps and go through security. One through security you can take the elevators or steps on either end of the building up to the Rotunda. You can read more on the security changes from the Minnesota Department of Public Safety here.

Please do not bring food, drinks, stickers, tape or anything else into the rotunda that could potentially spill or make a mess. Refer to this document for more specific rules of conduct at the capitol.

Before attending, we also encourage you to set up your own meeting with your legislators to talk with them about the importance of early childhood care and education. Here are some tips on meeting with them. Even if you cannot meet your legislators, consider sending them an email or writing a letter to know you care about children's education and care. You can find out who represents you here.
