Eligibility Criteria

 In order to apply to this RFP, your partnership must attest that it meets all of the following criteria.
  • The Lead Organization must be a 501c3 nonprofit organization or have a fiscal sponsor who is a 501c3.
  • Your collaboration must designate one organization as the "Lead Organization? responsible for administering the grant funding to partner organizations.*
  • The Lead Organization's budget for the current fiscal year must be $250,000 or higher.
  • Collaboratives must operate within the Greater Twin Cities United Way nine-county service region (Anoka, Carver, Chisago, Dakota, Hennepin, Isanti, Ramsey, Scott, Washington).
  • Collaboratives must target high food insecurity areas within our nine-county service region.
  • Eligible collaborations should involve a mix of organizations ensuring diversity and expertise across the partnership. Eligible entities for collaboration include nonprofit organizations, community-based groups, governmental agencies, academic institutions, and other stakeholders actively engaged in addressing food justice and community food system issues.
  • Collaboratives must involve partnerships with a minimum of three organizations, one of which is the lead entity responsible for administering grant funding.

Important Note on Financial Review: Your lead organization must meet the financial standards for Greater Twin Cities United Way funded partners based on a review of financial documents such as your most recent financial statements, form 990, and audit (if your organization is required by law to complete an audit) in order to receive funding. Organizations required to complete an audit MUST have a "clean" (unqualified) audit opinion in order to be eligible for funding under this RFP. You will be asked to upload financial documents as part of the application. Please note that organizations are only eligible to receive a maximum grant size of up to 20% of their overall organizational budget. 

*The lead organization within a collaborative partnership assumes key responsibilities, including grant administration, project management, stakeholder communication, budget management, collaboration facilitation, partner capacity building, and risk management.

 
 

Eligibility Criteria

 

Organizations must meet the following eligibility requirements to be funded.

  • Your organization is a 501c3 or 501c6, has a fiscal sponsor who has a 501c3 or 501c6 or is a public school district or charter school. 
  • Project seeks to improve outcomes for one or more of the following student populations: 
    • Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Asian, Pacific Islander and/or a Youth of Color 
    • Family income level is at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level  
    • Live with a disability that presents significant barriers to employment
  • Primary focus of the project is on students currently enrolled in high school or between the ages 14-22 
  • Your project includes a public school district or charter school partner with existing career pathways or has demonstrated momentum/interest to develop career pathways 
  • Your organization meets United Way's financial standards and received an unqualified opinion on your most recent audit report. This will be determined by an assessment of your financial documents as part of the application review. 
  • Organization or the fiscal sponsor has an annual budget of at least $250,000.

Single Application Organization Eligibility Criteria

 

In order to apply to this RFP, your organization must answer YES to all the following criteria.

  • Your organization is a 501c3 or 501c6, has a fiscal sponsor who has a 501c3 or 501c6 or is a public school district or charter school. 
  • 50% or more of the people served by your organization are living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
  • 50% or more of the people served by your organization reside in the nine-county metro region.
  • Your organization provides direct services to individuals.
  • Your organization has been in operation for at least two years OR you are a fiscally sponsored group that has been in operation for at least two years.
  • Your organization's current budget is at least $250,000 OR you are a fiscally sponsored group where both your group and the fiscal sponsor each have a budget of at least $250,000.
  • For organizations required to complete an audit (by law, nonprofits are only subject to audit if they have annual total revenue over $750,000), your most recent audit DOES NOT contain a Going Concern disclosure and your audit opinion is not qualified and free of material weaknesses.

Partnership Application Organization Eligibility Criteria

 

To apply to this RFP, your Lead Organization must answer YES to all the following criteria.

  • Your Lead Organization must be a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization OR a fiscally sponsored group of an organization that is classified as a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization.
  • Your Lead Organization has been in operation for at least two years OR is a fiscally sponsored group that has been in operation for at least two years.
  • Your Lead Organization's current fiscal year budget is at least $250,000 OR is a fiscally sponsored group where both the Lead Organization and the fiscal sponsor each have a budget of at least $250,000.
  • For Lead Organizations required to complete an audit (by law, nonprofits are only subject to audit if they have annual total revenue over $750,000), your most recent audit DOES NOT contain a Going Concern disclosure and your audit opinion is free of material weaknesses and unqualified. If you are not required to complete an audit, you may automatically check this box.

To apply for this RFP, each organization applying in the partnership must meet these criteria:

  • 50% or more of the people served by each organization in the partnership are living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines.
  • 50% or more of the people served by each organization in the partnership reside in the nine-county metro region.
  • Each organization in the partnership provides direct services to individuals.
